We created Cleanyst because we believe our daily actions can have an impact that extends far beyond ourselves.
That’s why we’re on a mission to make it easy to take better care of your body, home and the planet.
What is Cleanyst?
Cleanyst® is the pioneer of a new approach to personal care and household cleaning that empowers you to easily create safe and effective natural products that are better for your body, home, and the planet.
Our system features a countertop appliance, reusable bottles, and plant-based concentrates that you mix with water from your own tap.
Our full line of premium body and home care concentrates are USDA certified Biobased, Leaping Bunny Certified, and free of dyes, fragrances, parabens and other potentially harmful chemicals.
We also offer botanical extracts to personalize the scent and aromatherapy benefits of your creations.
For ease and convenience, Cleanyst products are delivered directly to your door.
Is the Cleanyst system safe?
Yes, the Cleanyst System is safe when used as directed.
We designed the Cleanyst Appliance with several notable safety features, including:
- Product concentrates are dispensed behind the closed door of the pouch dock and mixed inside the bottle, which is similarly positioned behind the door and out of reach of children or pets.
- The Appliance will not let you mix a product unless you have loaded the correct bottle (either 12 or 16 FL OZ). This feature ensures that all products are mixed properly, using the right proportions of ingredients and water.
- Water temperatures are high enough to ensure optimal mixing, but cannot scald or burn the skin.
Is there a satisfaction guarantee?
Of course! Because we’re confident you’ll love mixing and reusing with Cleanyst, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't 100% satisfied after 30 days, you can return your purchase for a full refund.
How is Cleanyst different from other natural or eco-friendly home and body care products?
The main differences stem from our thoughtful approach to delivering premium natural products.
Water is the main ingredient in most body and home care products - up to 95% of the weight. Instead of shipping this water across the country in bulky plastic bottles, we only deliver necessary ingredients in minimal packaging and empower you to mix products at home using our reusable mixing bottles with water from your own tap. This approach reduces both carbon emissions and single-use plastic waste. With the Cleanyst system, the average household can eliminate over 100 single-use plastic bottles each year.
Additionally, we’re proud of the fact that all of our natural body and home care concentrates have earned the USDA’s Biobased product label. Lots of products hold themselves out to be plant-based, but few provide third party verification of these claims.
Have you conducted a Life Cycle Assessment?
Yes, in 2019 we engaged an independent firm to conduct a life cycle assessment (LCA) on the Cleanyst system. The LCA confirmed the positive environmental impact of our system and even uncovered opportunities for further improving the system before it went into production. Here are two highlights of our positive environmental impact:
- Single-use plastic waste reduction of approximately 80%; and
- Carbon footprint reduction of approximately 20-30%
These reductions are compared to store-bought products that come in single-use plastic packaging and are calculated for all of our products over the six-year estimated life of the appliance. The impact on single-use plastic waste equates to reducing over 60 pounds of plastic for the average household.
The comprehensive carbon footprint analysis took into account all components our system, including:
- Reusable bottles;
- Pouches; and
- Secondary packaging (e.g., cardboard shipping boxes)
The analysis also took into account electricity consumption of the appliance, transportation and related efficiencies from shipping less water, and end of life impacts of all components. If you’re currently purchasing your home and body care products online, you should expect to see reductions closer to 30%, the higher end of the range.
We are conducting a follow-up LCA that will take into account all of the finalized components of our system. We expect our finalized system to have an even smaller environmental footprint thanks to improvements we made with the insights from the initial LCA.
How can I recycle my empty pouches?
Our biobased concentrate pouches are fully recyclable through our mail-back program.
Simply mail the empty pouches back to us in our postage paid envelope, which itself is made from 100% recycled content including 50% post-consumer waste.
We’ll recycle the pouches, and you’ll receive rewards.
What are the dimensions and weight of the Cleanyst appliance?
The appliance weighs 10.9 pounds (4.9 kg) and measures:
- 16.3” (414 mm) in height;
- 8.7” (221 mm) in width; and
- 10.7” (272 mm) in depth.
The appliance should comfortably fit underneath most upper cabinets, which typically are installed at 18” above the countertop surface.
Is the water reservoir removable?
Yes, simply lift the reservoir slightly up then out to remove it from the appliance.
Can I use well water in the appliance?
Yes. We have carefully designed our concentrate formulations with chelating agents, which are intended to remove water hardness by sequestering ions from your tap or well water.
How can I avoid cross-contamination?
We designed the Cleanyst Appliance so that all blending of water and concentrates only occurs inside the bottle. This is to minimize the potential for cross-contamination when mixing different types of products back-to-back.
Assuming you always start with a clean bottle, you can mix a body care product immediately after a home care product and rest assured that there is no cross-contamination between the two products.

Additional ingredient information - including the source and feedstock of a given ingredient - can be found on the product pages of our website under the “INGREDIENTS” tab.
What do you mean by “plant-based”?
When we say that all of our products are “plant-based,” we mean that plant-derived ingredients perform all of the core functions of our products, such as cleaning, conditioning and softening. Our USDA biobased product labels shed additional light, not to mention third-party verification, on the plant-based nature of our products.
Do the concentrates expire?
Cleanyst concentrates are formulated with plant-based ingredients that can expire after an extended period of time. Prior to mixing, please be sure to check the expiration date, which is located on the left edge of the pouch (assuming that you are looking at the front of the pouch).

Can I personalize with my own essential oils and extracts?
We do not recommend that you use your own essential oils and extracts to personalize Cleanyst products. Our natural scent additives, have been carefully formulated to easily mix with our products and we have conducted countless hours of testing in our lab to ensure that the mixtures remain stable over time. As long as you follow our directions, you will get a perfect mixture every time. Using your own essential oils and extracts will likely cause stability or preservation issues that could ruin the product, or worse - they could cause you harm. Remember that botanical extracts and oils are powerful substances and should be treated with respect and caution!
Do I need a dedicated ReMix bottle for each product I am mixing?
While a dedicated ReMix bottle for each product it not mandatory, it is recommended for your convenience. This way you will not lose any product while transferring a mixture from your ReMix bottle to another dispensing bottle.

Yes, all ReMix bottles can be disassembled for ease of cleaning and break down into the following components:
- Bottle Body (12 or 16 FL OZ)

Will Remix bottles be made from other materials in the future?
Yes! We plan to offer reusable bottle bodies made from glass and metal in the future.
How do I identify what is in my bottle?
Do I need to trim the dip tube before twisting on the pump or trigger sprayer?
Nope! When you twist the pump or trigger sprayer onto the adapter, position the dip tube between the blades of the impeller. Although you might feel a little resistance as you tighten the pump or trigger sprayer to the adapter, this is OK.
The dip tube will bend slightly and wind up in proper position as the pump or trigger sprayer is tightened to the adapter.
What if I need another pump or trigger sprayer for my bottle?
Our pumps and trigger sprayers are designed to be long-lasting, but they may need to be replaced from time to time. No worries though - we’ve got you covered! Simply let us know when you are in need of a replacement and we’ll include it with your next order.
